Looking for a way to stay connected on the go? TP-Link has unveiled a new travel router that promises to be a versatile companion for any adventure.

Travel routers are becoming increasingly popular for those who need to set up a Wi-Fi network wherever they land. Whether you’re staying in a hotel with unreliable internet or parked up at a campsite, a travel router can be a lifesaver.

TP-Link’s new offering, the TL-WR1502X, is a compact travel router that packs a punch. Here’s what you need to know:

The first thing you’ll notice about the TL-WR1502X is its size. This tiny router is designed to slip easily into a backpack or suitcase, making it perfect for travel. It even uses a USB-C port for power, so you can ditch the extra cables and share chargers with your other devices.

The TL-WR1502X isn’t just a one-trick pony. This travel router can be configured to work in several different modes, depending on your needs.

  • Regular router: If you have a wired internet connection available, you can use the TL-WR1502X just like a regular home router.
  • Access point: Need to extend the range of an existing Wi-Fi network? The TL-WR1502X can act as an access point to boost the signal strength.
  • Range extender: Similar to access point mode, but specifically designed to improve the reach of a weak Wi-Fi signal.
  • Tethering hotspot: This is where the TL-WR1502X truly shines. By connecting your smartphone to the router’s USB port and enabling USB tethering, you can transform your phone’s cellular data connection into a Wi-Fi hotspot for all your devices. The router’s Wi-Fi signal will likely be stronger than your phone’s on its own, providing a more stable connection for your laptop, tablet, or gaming console.

Despite its small size, the TL-WR1502X delivers impressive performance. It supports dual-band Wi-Fi 6, with speeds of up to 1.2 Gbps on the 5 GHz band and 300 Mbps on the 2.4 GHz band. This means you can stream HD video, play games, and browse the web without any lag.

The TL-WR1502X also includes support for VPN connections, allowing you to encrypt your traffic and protect your privacy on public Wi-Fi networks. There are even two Ethernet ports for wired connections and a USB port that can be used to connect a storage drive. This allows you to create a shared NAS (Network Attached Storage) device, providing easy access to your files from any connected device.

Setting up and managing the TL-WR1502X is a breeze. The router can be configured using the TP-Link Tether app, which is available for both iOS and Android devices.

With its compact size, multiple modes, and powerful performance, the TP-Link TL-WR1502X is a compelling option for anyone who needs a reliable Wi-Fi connection on the go. Whether you’re a business traveler, a remote worker, or an adventurer who likes to stay connected, this versatile travel router is a great way to stay online wherever your travels take you. The TP-Link TL-WR1502X is available for purchase now from Amazon for around $60.
