Max, the new streaming service by Warner Bros. Discovery, has released a first look at its upcoming Original Series, The Penguin. The series, which is set to debut in 2024, is an eight-episode drama that continues the epic crime saga of The Batman, originally introduced in the blockbuster film of the same name.

Starring Colin Farrell as The Penguin, the show follows the character’s story arc as introduced in the film. The first look footage and image were revealed exclusively during the unveiling of Max on the Warner Bros. lot in Los Angeles, giving fans a taste of what to expect from the series.

The Penguin is executive produced by Matt Reeves, who directed The Batman, along with Dylan Clark, Colin Farrell, and Lauren LeFranc. LeFranc also serves as the showrunner and writer for the series. Craig Zobel, who previously directed episodes of Westworld and The Leftovers, directs the first three episodes of the show.

The series features an impressive cast, with Cristin Milioti, Rhenzy Feliz, Michael Kelly, Shohreh Aghdashloo, and Deirdre O’Connell joining Farrell in the lineup. Additionally, Clancy Brown and Michael Zegen will recur throughout the show’s run.

The Penguin is based on characters created for DC by Bob Kane and Bill Finger, with Reeves’ 6th & Idaho Productions and Dylan Clark Productions producing the series in association with Warner Bros. Television. Reeves and 6th & Idaho are currently under an overall deal with the studio, with Daniel Pipski also serving as executive producer and Rafi Crohn as co-executive producer.

As fans eagerly await the series debut in 2024, the first look footage and image offer a glimpse into what promises to be an exciting addition to the DC universe. With its all-star cast and talented creative team, The Penguin is poised to deliver another thrilling chapter in the ongoing story of The Batman.
