Sony debuted their Vision-S Electric Sedan at the last CES 2020. Sony has been testing the vehicle on public roads in Europe since 2020. It also started safety and user experience verification tests, as well as 5G driving tests. With Vision-S 02, Vision-S enters a new phase after two years.

In the spring of 2022, Sony will plan to launch a new operating company called “Sony Mobility Inc.” to make these vehicles a reality. Sony intends to enter the electric vehicle (EV) industry with Vision-S as soon as feasible with this approach.

The prototype’s EV/cloud platform is used in Vision-S 02 as well as Vision-S 01. The wide interior area accommodates up to seven people and fosters a range of lifestyles.

Sensors are mounted 360 degrees around the vehicle to promote safe driving by identifying and analyzing the surrounding environment in real-time. Wide dynamic range CMOS image sensors and LiDAR sensors that perceive three-dimensional space are among the sensors.

Having a vehicle with 5G communication is an extraordinary achievement that has the potential to change the automotive sector. Built-in Time-of-Flight (ToF) sensors are located throughout the vehicle’s interior. These give monitoring capabilities for driver verification and passenger safety.

Within the vehicle, it will also be possible to employ gestures and voice commands. Users will be able to modify the display style as well as the vehicle’s acceleration and deceleration sounds thanks to a new feature featured in the vehicle.

The seat speakers produce a three-dimensional sound field that is compatible with “360 Reality Audio,” simulating a live performance. Because this is a Sony car, the entertainment and gaming features allow you to play PlayStation games via a remote connection to a home console. It also has the capability of streaming games over the internet. In essence, you could play games while parked in the car.

Sony is one step closer to entering the electric vehicle market with public road testing, new breakthroughs in safety and user experience, and a new operating company. The automotive business continues to advance with astounding technological marvels from a variety of manufacturers.
