Sonos has teased the upcoming arrival of what they claim to be their “most requested product ever.” The reveal is set for May 21st, and fans are eagerly anticipating the big announcement.

Speculation is rampant that the highly anticipated product is the Sonos Ace, which marks the company’s first venture into the world of wireless headphones. While the initial release date was set for June, recent developments indicate an earlier launch, as the headphones have been spotted for sale through authorized dealer Schuurman.

The timing is perfect for Sonos with the upcoming launch following closely after the release of their new app. The app received mixed reviews due to the absence of key features such as a sleep timer and local library management. With the Ace on the way, Sonos hopes to reverse this trend and potentially reduce the criticism received due to the app’s shortcomings.

There are rumors circulating about the upcoming release of Roam 2, which is reportedly scheduled for June according to The Verge. Following the success of its predecessor, Roam 2 is expected to feature subtle enhancements, including a color-matched Sonos logo and a dedicated Bluetooth pairing button. Addressing previous issues such as the complicated Wi-Fi setup and pairing process, Roam 2 promises a more seamless user experience.

Anticipation is building for the release of the Ace and Roam 2, while rumored releases like a TV streaming device or a new Sonos Arc soundbar are likely on hold until later this year. Speculation suggests that the Ace is the frontrunner for Sonos’ “most requested product ever,” indicating a strategic shift towards diversification. If the rumors are true, the Ace could mark the beginning of a new era for Sonos, bringing innovation across multiple product categories.
