The long-rumored Quake II enhanced edition is finally here. Bethesda has officially announced this incredible upgrade, and guess what? You don’t have to wait any longer – you can dive right into the action today on a bunch of platforms, including PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Series S, PS4, PS5, and even the Nintendo Switch. Oh, and did we mention that Game Pass subscribers are in for a treat too? It’s available on Game Pass for PC, console, and Xbox Cloud Gaming. And if you’re one of those awesome folks who already own the original game on GOG or Steam, you’re in luck – you’re getting a free upgrade!

So, what’s the scoop on this enhanced edition? Well, let’s break it down. Nightdive Studios teamed up with Bethesda to give a modern makeover to the classic 1997 first-person shooter from id Software. Remember the thrill of the single-player campaign? It’s back, and it’s better than ever. But that’s not all – you can now experience it with the original soundtrack by Sonic Mayhem, along with a bunch of cool enhancements. We’re talking upgraded visuals with widescreen support, super smooth 120Hz refresh rates, and eye-popping 4K resolution. Prepare to be blown away!

But wait, there’s more! This enhanced edition brings back content that was once left on the cutting room floor. And guess what? The Nintendo 64 port is making a triumphant return too. Get ready to dive into the classic expansions, “Mission Pack: The Reckoning” and “Mission Pack: Ground Zero.” These bad boys come loaded with over 30 extra single-player levels and a whopping 20-plus deathmatch maps. Can you say epic?

Oh, but that’s not the end of the line. Brace yourselves for a totally fresh expansion called “Call of the Machine,” cooked up by the talented folks at MachineGames – you know, the geniuses behind “Wolfenstein: The New Colossus” and the upcoming “Indiana Jones” game. They’ve whipped up 28 brand-spankin’ new campaign levels and a shiny new deathmatch map. The excitement is real!

Now, let’s talk multiplayer mayhem. The enhanced edition boasts split-screen support that covers both local and online co-op. Grab your buddies – you can duke it out in deathmatch, team deathmatch, and capture the flag modes, all accommodating up to 16 players. It’s a frenzy of fun!

And the best part? Crossplay has arrived in style. That means you can team up with pals across different platforms and share the gaming love. Oh, but here’s a heads-up: if you’re on PC and want to join your console or cloud-based pals, grab that controller. It’s all about fair play, leveling that playing field, you know?

The enhanced edition also has some awesome accessibility updates. As soon as you install the game, you’ll be greeted with a notification about these nifty options. Think of high contrast settings, voice chat transcription, customizing your controls, aim assist, and even the magic of automatically switching to a new weapon when you pick it up. It’s all about making the game accessible to everyone.
