Opera Software has announced the public release of its highly anticipated generative AI-infused browser, Opera One. Previously in early access, Opera One is now more broadly available on Windows, Mac, and Linux, allowing users to experience its innovative features firsthand. To get a taste of this cutting-edge browser, interested individuals can conveniently download it from Opera’s official website.

One of the key highlights of Opera One is the integration of an advanced AI system called Aria, which is easily accessible through the browser’s sidebar. Users can initiate Aria using a simple keyboard shortcut (CTRL or Command and /). This AI functionality is also available in Opera’s Android browser, ensuring a seamless cross-platform experience.

Opera’s collaboration with OpenAI, the creator of ChatGPT, has paved the way for Aria’s exceptional capabilities. By connecting to GPT, Aria effectively assists users in finding answers to their queries. This powerful AI harnesses real-time information from the web and can generate text or code, as well as provide support for Opera products. Additionally, Opera One enables contextual prompts for Aria through right-clicking or text highlighting within the browser. If users prefer alternative AI models such as ChatGPT or ChatSonic, they can conveniently access them from the Opera One sidebar as well.

However, Opera recognizes that not all users may wish to engage with the browser’s AI features. Therefore, to utilize Aria, users are required to log into an Opera account, ensuring a more personalized and secure experience.

In conjunction with its AI advancements, Opera One boasts a fresh and sleek design based on modular principles. This design approach empowers the browser to adapt to individual users’ needs by intelligently highlighting key features. As stated in a recent blog post by Opera, “The relevant modules within Opera One will adjust automatically based on context, providing the user with a more liquid and effortless browsing experience.”

Moreover, Opera aims to revolutionize the browsing experience by addressing the perennial issue of tab clutter. With its innovative “tab islands” feature, Opera One intelligently groups related tabs together, such as organizing hotel and route information for travel itineraries or consolidating multiple Google Docs open for work projects. This novel approach ensures enhanced organization and efficiency.

Behind the scenes, Opera has reengineered the browser with a new architecture featuring a multithreaded compositor. This technical innovation aims to deliver a faster and smoother user interface, enhancing overall performance. Furthermore, Opera’s commitment to continuous improvement ensures that Opera One will stand out from other Chromium-based browsers. The company has promised additional AI-focused updates in the pipeline for later this year, further solidifying Opera One’s position as a leader in the browser industry.
