Opera, the Norwegian browser developer, has finally brought its revamped Opera One browser to the iOS platform. After months of testing in beta, the browser is now available for public consumption.
The most striking feature of Opera One is its bottom-placed search bar. This unconventional layout aims to make browsing more intuitive for one-handed use, a common practice among smartphone users. While this might take some getting used to for those accustomed to the traditional top bar, Opera offers the flexibility to switch back to the standard navigation or a fast action button layout. For those who prefer the familiar swipe-down gesture, Opera has included a similar functionality to access the search bar, mimicking iOS’ Spotlight search.
But Opera One is more than just a redesigned interface. The browser also introduces intelligent search suggestions. As you start typing your query, Opera provides not only standard autocomplete options but also its own suggestions in the form of chips below the search box. This feature promises to accelerate the search process by offering relevant options upfront.

Opera has also paid attention to the visual aesthetics. The browser automatically hides the top and bottom bars while scrolling, providing an immersive full-screen experience. Additionally, the color of the top status bar dynamically adjusts to match the website’s theme, enhancing the overall visual harmony.
In another significant change, Opera has replaced its old newsfeed with a carousel-style layout. This new design promises a more engaging experience, offering personalized news, live scores, and product recommendations in a visually appealing format.
