Oculus v34 update brings Android phone notifications, a smarter guardian, and much more

Oculus starting to roll out a new v34 software update to its devices that brings improved Voice Commands, Guardian is getting a major upgrade with Space Sense, Android users will finally be able to see their phone notifications in VR, and more.

Starting with Voice Commands, the v34 improves Voice Commands and is capable of handling day-to-day chores. Users may now use their voice to pause and play media in Oculus TV and other select apps. Voice commands can also be used to show or hide your Move stats, as well as open your Settings tabs. Oculus has included some Voice Commands in this section.

The new Android phone notifications are now included in the v34 update, allowing users to stay connected to the outside world even as they explore a plethora of virtual worlds. Simply activate Phone Notifications in the Oculus App or your headset’s Settings menu after configuring them in the Oculus App. In-VR notifications are available for any mobile app that already displays notifications on your phone’s lock screen.

When you use Space Sense, you can observe when things or people trespass on your Guardian’s borders. Other people, enormous pets, a chair dragged from its customary location—these and other items should now be highlighted in your headset, surrounded by a pinkish glow.
