Electric bicycle maker Lectric Ebikes has done it again. Just when you thought they couldn’t push boundaries any further, the company behind North America’s #1 best-selling e-bike has unveiled the all-new Lectric XPress line of urban commuter electric bicycles. And true to form, they are bringing their signature blend of impressive specs and astounding value to yet another e-bike category.

The Lectric XPress models arrive hot on the heels of the company’s wildly popular Lectric XP 3.0 folding fat tire e-bike, maintaining the $999 price point that has become synonymous with Lectric’s affordable electric bicycles. However, the XPress represents a departure from the fat tire formula with its large 27.5 x 2.1-inch urban tires tailored for street and path riding.

Despite the affordable pricing, the XPress is stuffed with coveted commuter features like a custom suspension fork, torque sensor, thru-axle front wheel, integrated lighting system, color LCD display, hydraulic disc brakes, 7-speed transmission, and a removable battery design.

But the options don’t stop there. Riders can opt for either a high-step or step-thru frame, catering to varying rider heights and accessibility needs. More importantly, Lectric offers two distinct motor and battery packages to meet diverse range and performance requirements.

The entry-level XPress comes equipped with a 500W continuous-rated motor (1,092W peak) paired with a 500Wh battery. This provides up to 45 miles (70 km) of electric range on a single charge. For those seeking extra oomph and range, the upgraded 750W continuous-rated motor (1,310W peak) is mated to a larger 672Wh battery, enabling a claimed 60-mile (100 km) range.

Impressively, both XPress models are UL2849 certified, which covers the entire e-bike system including the motor, battery, electronics, and charger – a rarity in this price range.

While the 750W model commands a higher $1,299 price tag, Lectric is currently sweetening the deal for early buyers by including a free spare 672Wh battery valued at $349. This doubling of the battery capacity translates to over 120 miles (200 km) of combined riding range between battery swaps.

The 500W motor offers 55 Nm of torque which should suffice for flat terrain commuting, while the 750W version bumps torque up to 85 Nm for improved hill-climbing prowess. Both models are Class 3 speed pedelecs capable of reaching 28 mph (45 km/h) via a trigger throttle.

A torque sensor enables Lectric’s wattage-based PWR pedal-assist system, delivering a more natural and linear pedal assist feel compared to jerky cadence-based systems found on many budget e-bikes.

The launch of the XPress commuter line represents the latest expansion of Lectric’s diverse and disruptive e-bike lineup. The company has rapidly grown from its recreational fat tire e-bike roots to offer cargo, adventure, trike, premium commuter, and folding lightweight models – all while maintaining its focus on delivering maximum bang for the buck.

And speaking of value, Lectric is currently offering a tantalizing $500 pre-order discount on the XPress 750 high-step and step-thru models, dropping the price from $1,799 to just $1,299. The base 500W versions are available for the company’s standard $999 price point.

With the XPress, Lectric proves once again that premium electric bicycle performance and versatility need not come at a premium price.
