Apple has already begun shipment for its new iPhone 13 series which was September 24, and after customers get their hands on iPhone 13, they now facing problems with “Unlock with Apple Watch” and Apple also stated on their support page, the company said:
“Apple has identified an issue where Unlock with Apple Watch may not work with iPhone 13 devices. You might see “Unable to Communicate with Apple Watch” if you try to unlock your iPhone while wearing a face mask, or you might not be able to set up Unlock with Apple Watch.”
There, they also said the upcoming software update will be fixed for these inconvenience issues with “Unlock with Apple Watch.” Apple says its iPhone 13 series customers to use a passcode for unlocking their iPhone 13 until the update is available, customers can turn off Unlock with Apple Watch features by simply going to Settings > Face ID & Passcode.

Apple has introduced the “Unlock with Apple Watch” feature in iOS 14.5 that uses Face ID (requires iPhone X or later with iOS 14.5 or later) with paired Apple Watch (requires Apple Watch Series 3 or later with watchOS 7.4 or later) helps iPhone users to unlock their iPhone with Apple Watch. Both iPhone and Apple Watch must have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth turned on, Apple Watch needs to enable wrist detection and be passcode protected and users need to put Apple Watch on their wrist to work this feature.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic face masks are recommended in most public places and it’s hard to recognize you in your iPhone Face ID when you are wearing a mask and the “Unlock with Apple Watch” feature comes in handy when this situation happens.
