For most people, the Microsoft Surface Laptop 4 is our top pick in the Surface lineup. The new Surface Laptop 5 lacks sufficient upgrades to prove the additional cost (though you can save up to $300 on the Surface Laptop 5). The Surface Laptop 4 has a nice 13.5-inch high-resolution display (a 15-inch version is also available), a good keyboard, and a glass trackpad. You can select either an AMD Ryzen or an Intel processor.

Microsoft Surface Pro 8 (Save up to $600)
The Microsoft Surface Pro 8 from last year is still a powerful machine, especially for work. The 2-in-1 has a 13-inch display (with a 3:2 aspect ratio), a refresh rate of 120 Hz, a 1080p Windows Hello-compatible webcam, and an 11th-generation Intel chip.

Microsoft Surface Laptop Studio (Save up to $400)
The Surface Laptop Studio is excellent for power users. Because of its unique hinge, you get a 2-in-1 laptop and a tablet, allowing you to take notes or draw. The only disadvantage is its weight: at 4 pounds, it’s too heavy to carry around all day.

Microsoft Surface Go 3 (Save up to $118)
Even though it’s a year old and lacks the all-day battery life, the Surface Go 3 is a solid 2-in-1 for students. It is less expensive than other Surface devices. It also includes support for Microsoft’s Surface Pen (Save $10) and Type Cover keyboard (Save $58) (both sold separately), making it a good option for taking notes and doing schoolwork. If you plan on using the Surface Go 3 every day and doing a lot of multitasking, we recommend sticking with the Intel Core i3 chipset with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage.

Microsoft Surface Pro 9 Essentials Bundle (Save up to $375.70)
If you have room in your budget, you can get the brand-new Surface Pro 9 (Save up to $200) for $1,000, which has the same configuration as the base Surface Pro 8. It has the same features as the previous model but uses a 12th-generation Intel Core i5 processor for slightly better performance.
