The most awaited series “Shining Girls,” which will make its worldwide debut on Friday, April 29, 2022, has been given a premiere date and the first look by Apple TV+.

The metaphysical thriller is produced by Appian Way and stars and is executive produced by Emmy Award-winning actress Elisabeth Moss (“The Handmaid’s Tale,” “Mad Men”), with Emmy Award-winning director Michelle MacLaren (“Breaking Bad”) directing the first two episodes.

The eight-part series, adapted for television by showrunner Silka Luisa, will premiere globally on Apple TV+ with the first three episodes, followed by one new episode every Friday.

Luisa, who also works as showrunner, executive produces and produces “Shining Girls” for television. Moss, together with Lindsey McManus, stars in, directs, and executive produces the film under Love and Squalor Pictures.

Through Appian Way, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Davisson, and Michael Hampton serve as executive producers. For MacLaren Entertainment, MacLaren directs and co-produces alongside Rebecca Hobbs. The film is directed and executive produced by Daina Reid (“The Handmaid’s Tale”). Executive producers are author Beukes and Alan Page Arriaga.

About series

“Shining Girls,” based on Lauren Beukes’ bestseller novel, follows Kirby Mazrachi (Moss), a Chicago newspaper archivist whose journalistic dreams have been put on hold after a brutal assault. When Kirby discovers that a new murder resembles her own, she teams up with veteran but disturbed reporter Dan Velazquez (Wagner Moura) to track out her assailant.

Their own personal traumas and Kirby’s hazy reality allow her assailant to stay one step ahead as they understand these cold cases are intrinsically linked. Phillipa Soo, Amy Brenneman, and Jamie Bell round out the ensemble cast in the compelling thriller, which also stars Moss and Moura.
