Apple TV+ and Idris Elba working on new thriller series called “Hijack”
SHARE

Idris Elba (SAG Award winner and Emmy nominee for “Sonic the Hedgehog 2,” “Luther”) has teamed up with Apple TV+ to produce “Hijack,” a new seven-part thriller series starring and executive produced by himself. This is the first film from Elba’s Green Door Pictures, which has a first-look arrangement with Apple TV+.

“Hijack,” a suspenseful drama shown in real time, follows a hijacked plane’s journey to London over a seven-hour flight, as police on the ground hunt for clues. Elba will play Sam Nelson, an expert business negotiator who must step up and use all of his wits to save the passengers’ lives — but his high-risk strategy may prove to be his undoing.

Along with Elba, Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, and Kris Thykier, the series will be written by George Kay (“Lupin,” “Criminal”) and directed by Jim Field Smith (“Criminal,” “The Wrong Mans”), who will also serve as executive producers. In collaboration with Green Door, 60Forty Films and Idiotlamp Productions will produce “Hijack.”
