Apple has just dropped a new feature in its latest iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1 updates: a powerful AI-powered tool that can seamlessly remove unwanted objects from your photos. This feature, dubbed “Clean Up,” is poised to revolutionize the way we edit and enhance our images.
Inspired by Google‘s Magic Eraser, Clean Up allows users to effortlessly eliminate distracting elements from their photos without affecting the main subject. Whether it’s a pesky shadow, a reflection, or even an object that overlaps the person you’re focusing on, Clean Up can handle it with ease.
The tool works by automatically identifying distracting background elements and suggesting their removal. With a simple tap, users can instantly erase unwanted objects. For more precise control, they can also manually circle or brush over the area they want to eliminate.
Clean Up is compatible with photos from all generations of iPhones and iPads, ensuring that even your older memories can benefit from this cutting-edge technology.
The latest beta also introduces a handy feature that summarizes multiple notifications from various apps, including Mail and Messages. This will streamline your notification experience and help you stay organized.
While Clean Up is the star of the show in this beta, Apple has hinted at even more exciting AI features on the horizon. These include image and emoji generation, priority notifications, in-app actions, personal context updates for Siri, and even ChatGPT integration.
For now, these AI features are exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, as well as Macs and iPads with an M1 chip or newer. Those with compatible devices can download the iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1 developer betas, but it’s important to note that betas may contain bugs.
While Apple Intelligence features are unlikely to be included in the initial retail versions of iOS 18 and iPadOS 18, they are expected to arrive in subsequent updates, such as iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1.
