Apple’s upcoming 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M4 chip is set to bring some exciting enhancements, particularly for those who rely on multiple external displays. According to recent leaks, the entry-level M4 MacBook Pro will support up to two external displays, a significant upgrade from the M3 model, which only supports one external display unless the lid is closed.
One of the key reasons behind this improvement is the inclusion of three Thunderbolt 4 ports in the new M4 model. The current base M3 MacBook Pro only features two Thunderbolt 3 ports, limiting its display capabilities when the lid is open. With Thunderbolt 4 support, users will be able to connect two displays with up to 6K resolution at 60Hz.
Additionally, the M4 chip is expected to provide a significant boost in performance with its 10-core CPU, up from the 8-core CPU in the M3. This bump in processing power, along with more unified memory starting at 16GB across the lineup, will make the M4 MacBook Pro even more attractive to professionals who require high-performance computing and multi-monitor setups.
Apple is likely to reveal more details at their anticipated event later in October, with some models possibly being released as early as November 1st. Alongside the MacBook Pro, we may also see updates to other Mac models, including the iMac and Mac mini.
This will bring the base model of the 14-inch MacBook Pro closer in line with the higher-end Pro and Max versions, making it an enticing option for users who need versatile display support without splurging on the top-tier models.
