If you’re one of the proud owners of an iPhone 14 Plus, you might want to pay attention. Apple has just rolled out a new service program targeting a camera issue affecting a small number of these devices. Reports have surfaced that some iPhone 14 Plus models are experiencing a rather frustrating problem: the rear camera won’t display a preview. That’s right—no matter how hard you try, the screen just remains black when you attempt to take a photo.

So, what exactly is going on? According to Apple, they’ve identified that a “very small percentage” of iPhone 14 Plus devices manufactured between April 10, 2023, and April 28, 2024, may exhibit this no-preview issue. If your phone falls within this range, it could be affected, and there’s a straightforward way to check. By entering your serial number on the official service program page, you can see if your device is eligible for repair.

Here’s the good news: if your iPhone 14 Plus is indeed affected, Apple has got your back. They’re offering free repairs either directly through them or via an Authorized Service Provider. That means no out-of-pocket expense for you—definitely a relief considering how costly repairs can be. But what if you’ve already shelled out some cash to fix the camera yourself? Don’t worry; Apple has you covered there, too. They encourage anyone who has already paid for a repair to reach out and inquire about a possible refund.

This repair program isn’t a fleeting effort, either. Apple has committed to covering eligible devices for three years from the date of sale, which gives you ample time to seek assistance if you experience issues.

For those concerned about their device’s functionality, this is a reassuring development. If you think you might be affected, don’t hesitate to check your serial number and get your iPhone 14 Plus sorted out. After all, capturing those precious moments shouldn’t come with a side of technical hiccups!
