Get ready for a battle of the brains in your pocket! Tech giants are scrambling to be the king of AI for your phone, and Apple, a little late to the party, is pulling out all the stops to catch up.

Remember when Microsoft‘s AI stuff made them the most valuable company for a hot minute? Yeah, that scared Apple. So, this fall, with their new iOS 18 update, they’re launching “Apple Intelligence” – a whole bunch of AI features for your iPhone. But here’s the coolest part: they’re not just building their own brain, they’re bringing in the big guys.

First up, there’s ChatGPT from OpenAI. Think of it as Siri‘s super smart older sibling. Siri will still be there for the basics, but for those complicated questions that leave Siri scratching its head, ChatGPT will be there to swoop in and save the day.

But wait, there’s more! Apple might be teaming up with Google too, bringing their AI assistant, Gemini, to the iPhone party. So, this fall, you might have a choice of three AI helpers on your iPhone: Siri, the familiar friend; ChatGPT, the brainiac; and Google Gemini, the new kid on the block (who we don’t know much about yet).

Here’s the thing though, these fancy new AI features might only work on the latest iPhones (iPhone 15 Pro and newer). Apple might be hoping this is the push you need to upgrade your phone (especially if yours is a few generations old). Remember how iPhone sales haven’t been doing so great lately? This could be their way to get people excited again.

Oh, and just like Microsoft with its AI stuff, Apple might eventually make you pay for some of the super advanced features of Apple Intelligence. But hey, at least the basic stuff will still be free!
