After the long-rumored Apple finally make the debut of its Apple AirTag in a very small design to help people track or find the items with Apple Find My app. In a very small attractive design, it can easily be attached to a handbag, keys, backpack, wallet, or any other items by keeping location data private and anonymous with encryption.

AirTag requires device compatibility including iPhone SE, iPhone 6s or later, or iPod touch (7th generation) with iOS 14.5 or later, or iPad Pro, iPad (5th generation or later), iPad Air 2 or later, or iPad mini 4 or later with iPadOS 14.5 or later.

Talking about pairing, AirTag can easily pair with iPhone just like magic as AirPods, you just need to bring it close to iPhone and it will automatically pair with iPhone. Apple claims the AirTag battery will run long enough (depending on daily usage), and users have the ability to change the battery by simply removing the cover.

When the AirTag setup process is completed, users will see a new “Items” tab in the Find My app where users can easily find lost or misplaced items within Bluetooth range using the Find My app to play a sound from the AirTag to help locate it. Also, users can use the Siri voice command to find their items, and AirTag will play a sound when it is nearby.

Users can also able to assign AirTag to an item and name, or even use a custom name. There is also free engraving available when you purchase an Apple AirTag including text like your name or selection of 31 emoji. Also, it can be paired with many of Apple’s AirTag accessories, such as the Polyurethane Loop, which is both lightweight and durable, and the Leather Loop and Leather Key Ring, which are made from specially tanned European leather. Each accessory’s enclosure fits comfortably around AirTag while easily sticking to a user’s belongings, further personalizing AirTag while ensuring that it is always with them.

Precision Finding for iPhone 11 and iPhone 12 users is allowed by the Apple-designed U1 chip, which uses Ultra-Wideband technology. When a missing AirTag is in range, this advanced technology will more accurately calculate the distance and path to it. Precision Finding fuses information from the camera, ARKit, accelerometer, and gyroscope as a user moves, and then uses a combination of sound, haptics, and visual feedback to direct them to AirTag.

Also, when AirTag is out of Bluetooth range from its owner, then the owner can easily track AirTag with the help of the Find My network. “The Find My network is approaching a billion Apple devices and can detect Bluetooth signals from a lost AirTag and relay the location back to its owner, all in the background, anonymously and privately.” Users can also assign AirTag to Lost Mode and receive notifications when it shows up in range or is found by the Find My network. If anyone finds a missing AirTag, they can tap it with their iPhone or some other NFC-capable device to be taken to a website that displays the owner’s contact phone number, if they have given one.

An AirTag that isn’t with its owner can be detected by iOS devices, and the user can be notified if an unknown AirTag is seen moving with them from place to place over time. Even if users don’t have an iOS device, an AirTag that has been separated from its owner for a long time can make a sound when moved to attract attention. If a user notices an unfamiliar AirTag, they can tap it with their iPhone or NFC-enabled smartphone to receive instructions on how to disable it.

The accessibility features integrated into iOS are supported by AirTag. Users who are blind or have poor vision, for example, may use Precision Finding with VoiceOver to guide them to AirTag with directions like “AirTag is 9 feet away on your left.” AirTag also has a number of proactive features that help to prevent unnecessary monitoring. AirTag transmits Bluetooth signal identifiers that rotate periodically to avoid unwanted position monitoring.

Apple collaborates with Hermès by introducing AirTag Hermès, featuring an elegant assortment of handcrafted leather accessories including the Bag Charm, Key Ring, Travel Tag, and Luggage Tag. Hermès accessories will be sold with a custom-engraved AirTag based on the brand’s iconic Clou de Selle signature.

Apple recently partnered with third-party products and accessories to add support for find with the Find My network accessory program. With this program, third-party brands can develop or build finding capabilities into their products using the advanced Find My network with uncompromising privacy built-in, allowing customers to use the Find My app to locate other important items in their lives.
