This year’s holiday sales began earlier than ever, meaning popular items will be flying off the shelves before Black Friday and Cyber Monday officially begin.
AirPods (2nd Generation)
Meanwhile, the AirPods (2nd Generation) could be among the first to go, especially given Amazon’s early Black Friday deal. They’re now $90, which is one of the lowest prices they’ve ever had.

The AirPods (2nd Generation) are the most basic model in the lineup. Despite this, they retain all of the best features that made them famous, such as a truly wireless design, fast and accurate Bluetooth pairing, in-case charging for on-the-go use, and on-ear tappable controls that allow users to skip or pause music with a gentle tap.
They have a charging case that provides 24 hours of battery life and five hours of power on a single charge, a built-in microphone for taking phone calls, and sensors that detect when they are in or out of ears. Many people prefer the shape and feel of these earbuds over the AirPods Pro.
AirPods Pro (2nd Generation)
The AirPods Pro (2nd Generation) is the most recent addition to the lineup. The most popular earbuds among reviewers have the best noise cancellation, the longest battery life, and new on-ear volume touch controls. The upgraded Pro edition was released in September, and while they aren’t as heavily discounted as the standard second generation, they may sell out before or during Black Friday, as they’re a popular holiday gift.

AirPods (3rd Generation)
Those looking for a Goldilocks-like model that falls between the two should consider the AirPods (3rd Generation) (they didn’t go on sale today, but we’ve included them if you want to buy them or give them as a gift).
(Update: They’re now $10 off on Best Buy, plus new and returning subscribers can get 3 free months of Apple TV+ and 4 free months of Apple Music & Apple News+.)

The AirPods (3rd Generation) lack noise cancellation, but they do have a longer battery life and better audio thanks to the spatial audio feature, which personalizes the listening experience based on the shape of your head. This feature is simple to set up on your iPhone.
AirPods Max
Some may prefer to avoid Apple’s earbuds entirely in favor of the more traditional-looking AirPods Max headphones. These are the most expensive, but they have noise cancellation, memory foam ear cushions, and a 24-hour battery life on a single charge. They’re the only AirPods that come in a variety of colors, making them a little more interesting than the others.
