Samsung has officially scheduled its next Galaxy Unpacked event for January 22nd, 2025, at 10 am PT / 1 pm ET in San Jose, California. This event, which will be live-streamed across various platforms including YouTube, Samsung’s official website, and its newsroom, promises to introduce not only the next iteration of Samsung’s flagship smartphones but also to expand the realm of Galaxy AI features.

What to expect from the Galaxy S25 series

The spotlight will undoubtedly shine on the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, rumored to come with a design overhaul that includes more rounded corners. This aesthetic shift would align the Ultra model more closely with its siblings in the S25 lineup, yet it is expected to retain premium features, such as the iconic S Pen.

Leaks and rumors has hinted at specifications like a 6.9-inch QHD+ 120Hz AMOLED display, an enhanced camera system with a 200MP main sensor, and a significant battery life with 45W fast charging capabilities. However, as with all leaks, these details should be taken with a grain of caution until officially confirmed by Samsung.

The mystery of the Galaxy S25 Slim

Another intriguing aspect is the mention of a Galaxy S25 Slim. While not expected to debut at this January event, whispers suggest it could make an appearance later in 2025. This model is rumored to focus on a thinner profile while maintaining high-end features, potentially setting a new standard for slim flagship phones.

In terms of technology integration, Samsung seems poised to adopt the new Qi2 wireless charging standard but with a twist. According to a statement from the Wireless Power Consortium earlier this Monday, Samsung will support Qi2 but through “Qi2 Ready” certification, which means the phones themselves won’t have built-in magnets. Instead, users would need to use magnetic cases for optimal wireless charging. This move could influence how consumers interact with their devices, prioritizing accessory compatibility.

Pre-order incentives

For those eager to get their hands on the latest from Samsung, there’s an incentive to act early. Samsung is offering a $50 credit for those who reserve a spot to preorder any of the new Galaxy S25 models.

The countdown to January 22nd is on, and whether you’re a die-hard Samsung fan or just curious about the latest in mobile technology, this Galaxy Unpacked event is one to watch. Keep your notifications on, as Samsung prepares to unveil what could be the next big leap in smartphone innovation.
