If you’ve been eagerly waiting to revisit Cybertron, Transformers One, the animated prequel to the beloved franchise, is finally available for streaming on Paramount+ as of November 15, 2024. This milestone marks the franchise’s first fully CGI-animated movie since The Transformers: The Movie (1986), and it’s a compelling deep dive into the origins of Optimus Prime and Megatron.

Directed by Josh Cooley (Toy Story 4), the film is set 300 million years before the live-action films, chronicling the rise of Orion Pax (soon to be Optimus Prime) and his complex relationship with Megatron. The movie’s star-studded voice cast includes Chris Hemsworth as Orion Pax / Optimus Prime, Brian Tyree Henry as D-16 / Megatron, Keegan-Michael Key as B-127 / Bumblebee, and Scarlett Johansson as Elita-1. The film explores how the deep friendship between these iconic characters crumbled, laying the groundwork for the Autobots vs. Decepticons saga we know today.

The background features a futuristic landscape with a setting sun casting a warm glow over the scene.
