Microsoft has introduced its most transparent Xbox wireless controller to date with the launch of the Sky Cipher Special Edition. Featuring a predominantly translucent blue design, the controller offers gamers a unique glimpse into its internal components.
While the company has previously released translucent controllers with varying degrees of transparency, the Sky Cipher marks a significant departure by showcasing a majority of the controller’s body. This design aesthetic is complemented by two-tone thumbsticks, a matching D-pad, and metallic blue triggers.
Beyond its distinctive appearance, the Sky Cipher maintains the core features of the Xbox Series X/S controller, including a 3.5mm audio jack, USB-C connectivity, and an estimated 40-hour battery life.
A notable aspect of this release is Microsoft’s commitment to sustainability. The Sky Cipher is packaged in environmentally friendly materials, eliminating single-use plastics and replacing the traditional paper manual with a digital quick start guide accessible via QR code. The packaging itself has been reduced in size and weight by 22% and 21%, respectively.
The Sky Cipher Special Edition is available for preorder at a suggested retail price of $69.99 at Amazon, Best Buy, Microsoft, and Target.
