WhatsApp beta releases version 22.7.0.76 for iOS which allows iOS 15 users to share large files up to 2GB in size in Argentina. The same 2GB file-sharing also works compatible in WhatsApp beta for Android versions 2.22.8.5, 2.22.8.6 and 2.22.8.7.

According to WABetaInfo, this beta patch is only available to a select group of WhatsApp beta testers in Argentina, and there is no hint from WhatsApp that this 2GB file sharing feature would be extended to more users in Argentina or other countries in the future. In the blog post, WABetaInfo also noted that WhatsApp could reverse this process and restore the previous file sharing limit after the experiment, saying “only time will tell.”
