Vimeo, a video hosting platform, today joined the bandwagon of companies venturing into the realm of AI-powered tools. In line with its commitment to empowering creators, Vimeo’s latest offerings are specifically designed to streamline the video editing process for beginners. Recognizing that many individuals lack the necessary skills, time, or resources to effectively create and edit videos, Vimeo aims to eliminate these barriers through the introduction of innovative features.

Among the trio of AI tools introduced by Vimeo, one stands out as particularly invaluable—the text-based video editor. With a single click, this tool can automatically eliminate long pauses and filler words like “um” and “ah” from videos. Furthermore, users can effortlessly remove any unwanted segments by utilizing the transcript generated by the tool. By simply searching for specific words within the transcript, users can identify and delete the corresponding sections. This feature also enables the creation of short clips tailored for social media platforms. Users can search for a particular word, highlight it, and right-click to select the option of keeping only that specific segment.

In addition to the text-based video editor, Vimeo has unveiled a script generator as part of its AI-powered toolkit. By leveraging OpenAI‘s GPT technology through its Application Programming Interface (API), Vimeo’s script generator can conjure a comprehensive script based on the user’s text prompt, desired video length, and preferred tone, be it confident, funny, or casual. This tool offers creators a valuable resource for generating scripts effortlessly and efficiently.

Recognizing the significance of maintaining eye contact with the camera while delivering a script, Vimeo has also introduced an on-screen teleprompter. This innovative tool allows creators to set the font size and pacing of the displayed script, ensuring a smooth and natural delivery. The teleprompter’s integration into Vimeo’s editing suite offers a practical solution for creators who strive to stay on the script while engaging with their audience through the lens.

Vimeo’s new AI-powered editing tools, including the text-based video editor, script generator, and on-screen teleprompter, will be available from July onwards. These tools will be accessible to users subscribing to Vimeo’s Standard and Pro plans. While users can enjoy a trial period of seven days to test these features, continued usage will require a minimum monthly payment of $20 when billed annually.

By launching these AI-driven tools, Vimeo demonstrates its commitment to democratizing the video editing process and enabling creators with varying levels of expertise to produce high-quality content. These innovative features have the potential to revolutionize the way videos are edited, making the process more accessible, efficient, and seamless for beginners and seasoned creators alike.
