SsangYong Motors UK has teamed up with EO Charging to provide advantageous terms for the installation of a homecharge point, allowing new Korando e-Motion customers to ‘fill’ their EVs (Electric Vehicles) from the comfort of their own homes.

SsangYong dealers will be able to provide Korando e-Motion owners with special pricing on a home 7kW untethered (universal) or tethered unit smart charger, as well as installation. With the £350 OZEV Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme (EVHS) grant, an EO Mini Pro 7kW homecharge station costs £595, compared to £945 on the RRP.

The EO Mini Pro 2 connects to the internet and uses the ‘EO Smart Home’ app for iOS and Android to provide ‘smart’ features such as energy usage monitoring and charging schedule. It’s little, measuring less than an A5 sheet of paper (175 x 125 x 125 mm), and comes with a seven-year warranty that’s exclusive to SsangYong customers, matching e-seven-year/90,000-mile Motion’s warranty.

The charger incorporates Auto Power Balancing (optional additional) to securely regulate the electrical load and a locking feature to prevent others from using it. EO products come with a three-year warranty and are backed by customer service that is available 24/7, 365 days a year.

Customers who charge at home can benefit from reduced tariffs throughout the night, when demand on the national grid is lower, thanks to numerous energy firms adopting energy tariffs adapted exclusively for electric car owners.

“With the arrival of our new pure electric Korando e-Motion, it’s important that our customers have access to quality charging solutions at home to ensure they are able to charge frequently, quickly and economically,” said Kevin Griffin, managing director at SsangYong Motors UK. “With EO, we believe we have an attractive proposition to complement Korando e-Motion and SsangYong’s future range of electric vehicles that are in the pipeline, particularly when the Mini Pro 2 has a 7-year warranty, matching that of e-Motion.”

The SsangYong e-Motion is SsangYong Motors’ first fully-electric crossover utility vehicle, which debuted in the UK this month. The all-electric e-Motion combines driving pleasure, eye-catching appearance, crossover utility, and a zero-emissions powertrain with a range of 210 miles on the WLTP combined cycle.

The e-Motion boasts smart packaging, is extremely convenient, and has a long-distance driving range. A variety of specific electric vehicle (EV) in-car technology, enhanced safety measures, and stand-out external and interior design will also be available to buyers. SsangYong Motors is putting a lot of effort into powering its existing and future products, with plans to release three more electric vehicles by 2025.

EO is a significant provider of electric car chargers in the United Kingdom. EO deploys for some of the world’s major commercial and fleet operators, including Amazon, Tesco, and DHL, in addition to offering charge points for homes. EO has sold over 50,000 chargers to clients all over the world since its launch in 2014.

“Across the country, drivers are realising the financial and environmental benefits of moving to an electric car” added Charlie Jardine, Founder and CEO of EO Charging. “However, for many, powering that EV can feel complicated. We’re delighted to be working with SsangYong to offer our smart, compact EO Mini Pro 2 chargers at point-of-sale for the Korando e-Motion, and in turn help simplify charging for new EV owners.”
