The outrageous and irreverent animated series “South Park” is set to take on the controversial issue of weight loss drugs in its latest streaming special, “South Park: The End of Obesity,” premiering on Paramount Plus on May 24, 2024.
In this highly anticipated installment, the quiet mountain town of South Park finds itself swept up in a weight loss drug craze. The overweight and foul-mouthed Eric Cartman, denied access to these medications, enlists the help of his friends Kyle, Stan, Butters, and Kenny to obtain them by any means necessary.
The teaser trailer released by Paramount Plus offers a tantalizing glimpse into the chaos that ensues. Cartman laments his size in front of a mirror while his friends, donning lab coats and goggles, conduct experiments in preparation for Cartman’s drug regimen. “We’ve been out navigating the American healthcare system,” Butters ominously warns. “I almost died!“
“South Park: The End of Obesity” promises to deliver the series’ trademark brand of biting social commentary and irreverent humor as it tackles the sensitive and highly debated issue of weight loss medications and the obesity epidemic.
Since its debut on Comedy Central in 1997, “South Park” has carved out a unique niche in the realm of adult animation, fearlessly skewering societal conventions and tackling controversial topics with a sharp wit and sardonic humor. Created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the show has been renewed through 2027, ensuring that its incisive satire will continue to push boundaries for years to come.
The latest streaming special is the seventh in a series of exclusive events for Paramount Plus, following the success of “South Park: Post COVID,” “South Park: The Streaming Wars,” and the recently released “South Park (Not Suitable For Children).”
A streaming service that features various networks and studios owned by Paramount Global (formerly ViacomCBS), including MTV, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, CMT, SHOWTIME, Paramount Network, and Paramount Pictures.
