Sonos has been on a bit of a rollercoaster lately, especially when it comes to its companion app. But it seems the company feels confident enough to launch not one, but two new products just a few months after hitting the pause button to refine its software. On Tuesday, Sonos unveiled the Arc Ultra and Sub 4, with the former stepping into the spotlight as the company’s new flagship home theater product, taking over from the $899 Arc.

So, what makes the Arc Ultra stand out in a crowded market of soundbars? For starters, it’s the first soundbar from Sonos to feature the innovative Sound Motion technology. This new tech allows Sonos to significantly shrink the size of the Arc Ultra’s transducer, all without compromising on bass output. In fact, the company claims the Arc Ultra can deliver up to twice the bass of its predecessor—now that’s impressive!

Equipped with a total of 14 drivers, including a pair of tweeters on each end, the Arc Ultra is designed to create an immersive 9.1.4 spatial audio experience. Whether you’re catching up on your favorite show or immersing yourself in the latest blockbuster, you can expect a sound that envelops you completely.

But it’s not just about booming bass and expansive sound; Sonos is also focused on clarity. One of the standout features is the Speech Enhancement tool, which lets users adjust how clear dialogue sounds. This is particularly useful during those tense movie moments when whispers can be drowned out by explosive action sequences.

When it comes to connectivity, the Arc Ultra is loaded with options. It includes an HDMI eARC port for seamless connection to your TV, along with Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3 support. If you’re an Apple enthusiast, you’ll appreciate the AirPlay 2 compatibility, and while the soundbar also supports optical audio, keep in mind that you’ll need an adapter for that feature.

For the first time, Sonos is rolling out its popular Trueplay tuning feature for Android users. This means more people can optimize their listening experience based on their room’s acoustics, making the Arc Ultra not just a purchase but an investment in better sound.

The price tag? A hefty $999 when it launches on October 29. If you’re not quite ready to make that jump, don’t worry; the original Arc will still be available at $899.

Now, let’s talk about the Sub 4, which Sonos describes as its most advanced subwoofer to date. It packs more processing power and RAM, which means it can handle more complex audio tasks with ease. Plus, it features a new Wi-Fi radio that ensures strong connectivity, so you won’t have to worry about dropouts during your favorite songs or movies.

Efficiency is another key focus for the Sub 4. Sonos claims to have achieved a nearly 50% reduction in idle power consumption, making this subwoofer not only powerful but also kinder to your electricity bill. The Sub 4 will also be available on October 29, priced at a more palatable $799.
