Marvel Studios has just dropped a new trailer for its highly anticipated espionage series, “Secret Invasion,” which features Samuel L. Jackson reprising his role as the formidable Nick Fury. The new footage premiered on April 2 during ESPN’s presentation of a “Sunday Night Baseball” game between the Philadelphia Phillies and Texas Rangers, giving fans a glimpse into what they can expect from the upcoming series.

“Secret Invasion” promises to be a thrilling and darker addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), introducing Emilia Clarke, Olivia Colman, and Kingsley Ben-Adir to the franchise. Ben-Adir is reportedly set to play the main villain in the show, which is set to premiere on Disney+ on June 21.

Returning cast members include Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill, Don Cheadle as James Rhodes, and Ben Mendelsohn as Talos. Smulders teased the show at the Marvel Studios Comic-Con presentation last July, saying, “It’s going to be an exciting thriller. You’re never going to know who people are — are they a Skrull or are they human?”

The teaser shown at Comic-Con featured Nick Fury emerging from darkness in a heavily wooded area, setting the tone for what promises to be a gripping series. “Secret Invasion” marks the full-fledged return of Nick Fury to the MCU, with the character last being prominently featured in 2019’s “Spider-Man: Far From Home.” In that film, Fury was revealed to be a shape-shifting Skrull, with the real Fury working covertly somewhere out in space.

“Secret Invasion” is the third installment in Marvel’s Phase Five, following “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” and “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.” Fans can look forward to more upcoming projects in the MCU, including the Disney+ series “Echo,” Season 2 of “Loki,” and “The Marvels,” a sequel to “Captain Marvel.”

Kyle Bradstreet serves as the showrunner for “Secret Invasion,” which promises to be a captivating and exciting series for Marvel fans. With a strong cast and intriguing storyline, the series is poised to be a major hit when it premieres on Disney+ on June 21.
