With Black Friday around the corner, Amazon, Best Buy, and other big-name retailers are warming up with early deals on everything from electronics to gaming accessories. Among these, the return of a fan-favorite bargain has gamers buzzing: Seagate’s 2TB Storage Expansion Card for Xbox Series X and Series S has hit its lowest price to date—$199.99, slashing $160 off its original price. Available on Amazon, Best Buy, and Seagate’s online store, this drop brings premium Xbox storage into reach for more gamers than ever.

If you’re an Xbox Series X or Series S owner, you know the pain of managing limited storage, especially as games are growing larger, with many demanding 100GB or more. That’s where Seagate’s official storage expansion cards come into play. These sleek, plug-and-play storage devices are designed in collaboration with Microsoft to be perfectly compatible with Xbox’s high-speed Velocity Architecture. What makes them stand out? The NVMe-based drive operates nearly identically to the internal memory, which means you can rely on fast load times, seamless gameplay, and access to features like Microsoft’s Quick Resume.

Quick Resume is a big deal for Xbox owners who want to jump between multiple games or apps without waiting for long load times. With a storage expansion card, you’re getting high-speed access and storage management flexibility without having to constantly delete and reinstall games. You can also bypass the more restricted USB-based external drives, which are limited to storing games instead of playing newer titles directly.

But, of course, there’s another question to consider: Why opt for a proprietary card in the first place? For Xbox, the licensing with Seagate means their expansion cards are custom-made to fit the Series X and Series S consoles without compatibility headaches. This convenience factor has come at a price—these drives aren’t cheap compared to PlayStation 5’s more open-ended approach, which allows any compatible M.2 SSD to work as an internal upgrade.

Microsoft’s competition with Sony has likely driven Seagate to become more competitive, especially since the release of Western Digital’s WD_Black C50, a direct rival to the Seagate line. The WD_Black C50 also brought relief to Xbox owners looking for a proprietary storage option at a reasonable price. It’s encouraging to see Seagate’s 2TB card available for nearly half of its original $399.99 tag—a signal that the competition may keep pushing prices down, or at least spur more sales during the holiday season.

If your Xbox library is outgrowing its internal drive and you’re tired of managing game installations, this might be the best time to invest in a 2TB storage expansion card. With holiday sales underway and early bird shoppers getting the first pick of the season’s discounts, it’s worth grabbing this storage upgrade before the price changes. Whether or not we see further markdowns in the coming weeks, Seagate’s storage expansion card delivers an essential upgrade for any gamer looking to optimize their Xbox Series X or Series S experience without sacrificing speed or convenience.
