Sony ZV-1 Digital Camera features

Sony ZV-1 is a compact camera that combines the RX100-series platform’s renowned photographic capabilities with an upgraded physical design for more efficient content creation. The ZV-1 caters to this crowd with the Product Showcase Setting, Background Defocus function, Soft Skin Effect, and Face Priority Auto-Exposure, as well as a side flip-out 3.0″ touchscreen and a directional 3-capsule microphone that is ideal for front-facing recording.

Although its compact and lightweight form, the ZV-1 is distinguished by a wide right-hand grip perfect for one-handed recording, front tally lighting, a bigger REC button on the top plate, and a Multi Interface Shoe for attaching peripherals. An outstanding ZEISS 24-70mm-equivalent standard zoom lens with a bright f/1.8-2.8 maximum aperture range is also included, and Active SteadyShot image stabilization helps to stabilize footage and eliminate the impression of the camera shake for smoother takes when recording while walking.

The ZV-1 features a 20.1MP 1″-type Exmor RS stacked CMOS sensor and a BIONZ X image processor with front-end LSI, which adds to exceptionally rapid performance as well as a wide range of sensitivity to suit working in a variety of settings. Real-Time Eye AF and Real-Time Tracking are provided by the processing capabilities for quick and precise focusing and subject tracking.

For prolonged takes, UHD 4K recording at 30p is supported, and a micro-HDMI connector can be used in conjunction with an external recorder or display if needed. The film also benefits from Sony’s S-Log3/2 and HLG image profiles, which are compatible with their professional cine cameras and allow for improved color, dynamic range, and detail while recording.

The ZV-1 also has a significant edge in terms of speed, and users will benefit from sophisticated High Frame Rate shooting and super slow motion in the video. Shooters in Full HD will have access to a standard 120 fps setting, which will offer exceptional slow motion when placed in editing tools. In addition, the camera has a specific HFR mode that increases the frame rate to up to 960 fps.

The camera includes a Photo Capture mode that allows shooters to rapidly save an 8.29MP still from their UHD 4K videos. Full HD users will also benefit from this functionality since they will be able to capture a 2MP still. Furthermore, the camera is NTSC/PAL switchable, making it useable all around the world, and vertical videos can be recorded with embedded information to compensate for the vertical orientation during playback.

The inbuilt ZEISS Vario-Sonnar T lens has a useful 24-70mm equivalent range and is suitable for work in a variety of circumstances. Despite its small, retractable size, the lens has a bright f/1.8-2.8 maximum aperture range that is useful for working in low-light circumstances and isolating subject matter utilizing the shallow depth of field techniques.

The optical design combines a number of specialized features to eliminate aberrations and distortions, resulting in exceptional sharpness and accurate rendering, as well as a ZEISS T anti-reflective coating to suppress reflections and glare for increased contrast and color accuracy.

The adjustable reach is complemented by Optical SteadyShot picture stabilization, which reduces the appearance of a camera shakes for handheld shooting in low-light situations.

The ZV-1 incorporates an on-sensor phase-detection AF system that enhances autofocus speed for both stills and video. To deliver fast, accurate focusing in a variety of conditions, the camera employs a hybrid system with 315 phase-detection points covering about 65 percent of the frame and a 425-area contrast-detection system. It can swiftly lock onto subjects and use Real-time Tracking for AI-based tracking of moving subjects. Real-time Eye AF ensures vital sharpness while shooting portraits and is ideal for both humans and animals.

The built-in Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity allow for quick image transmission to mobile devices for direct online sharing to social networking sites, email, and cloud storage services. Once connected, the associated mobile device can also display a live view image on its screen and remotely manage the camera’s shutter release via Smart Remote Control.

A QR code can also be used to connect to a smartphone, and the ZV-1 is compatible with the Movie Edit add-on from the Imaging Edge mobile software. Connecting to the optional GP-VPT2BT Wireless Shooting Grip via Bluetooth also allows for efficient camera operation.
