Amazon has a substantial discount on Samsung’s 49-inch ViewFinity S9 ultrawide monitor, bringing the massive productivity-focused display down to $799.99 for Prime members.

The monitor normally carries a $1,199.99 list price, so the current deal saves you $400, or 33%. Amazon identifies the offer as an exclusive deal for Prime members.

The Samsung ViewFinity S9 49-inch (LS49C954UANXZA) is built around a 49-inch curved display with a 5,120 × 1,440 Dual QHD resolution, 32:9 aspect ratio and 1000R curvature. It also supports a 120Hz refresh rate, making it suitable for everything from large productivity setups to smoother everyday browsing and gaming. Samsung officially classifies the display as Dual QHD rather than standard 5K, so despite its 5,120-pixel horizontal resolution, it isn’t a conventional 5K 5,120 × 2,880 monitor.

For productivity, the huge 32:9 canvas essentially gives you the horizontal workspace of two 27-inch QHD monitors without a bezel running down the middle. Samsung also supports Picture-by-Picture, allowing the display to show two sources simultaneously.

The monitor uses a VA panel with a 3,000:1 static contrast ratio, 350-nit typical brightness, VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification and a 5ms GTG response time. It also includes Samsung’s Eye Saver Mode and flicker-free technology.

Connectivity is another strong point. The ViewFinity S9 includes USB-C, HDMI and DisplayPort, along with built-in speakers and a KVM switch. Samsung also lists USB-C connectivity and multitasking features among the monitor’s key features.

At $799.99, the ViewFinity S9 makes more sense for someone who wants an enormous single-screen workstation than it does at its $1,199.99 list price. The 49-inch panel is particularly useful if you regularly work across multiple browser windows, documents, spreadsheets, creative applications or other side-by-side content.

The biggest thing to keep in mind is the size. A 49-inch 32:9 monitor takes up considerably more desk space than a conventional display, and its 5,120 × 1,440 resolution also isn’t the same as a standard 5K monitor. But if you’re specifically after an ultrawide workspace, this is a $400 discount on a very capable 49-inch Samsung display.
