As the dust settles from LG’s CES 2025 announcements, Samsung steps into the spotlight with its own array of advanced monitors, setting new benchmarks for both gamers and productivity enthusiasts. Here’s a deep dive into what Samsung has unveiled, promising to reshape our screen time experiences in 2025.

Odyssey OLED G8 (G81SF)

The star of Samsung’s show this year is undoubtedly the Odyssey OLED G8 (G81SF). This 27-inch marvel is not just about the numbers, but what those numbers mean for your gaming experience. With a 4K resolution and a staggering 240Hz refresh rate, this monitor is poised to deliver visuals that are not only sharp but also incredibly smooth. The response time is a mere 0.03ms, which means that whether you’re dodging enemies in a fast-paced shooter or tracking a car in a racing game, your movements will be nearly instantaneous on screen.

Samsung has tackled the notorious issue of glare with a glare-free display, ensuring that your gameplay remains vivid regardless of your lighting conditions. There’s also rear-core lighting with 52 color options, adding a customizable flair to your setup.

To address one of the biggest concerns with OLED technology—burn-in—Samsung has integrated multiple protective measures. They’re using what they claim to be the latest in OLED panel technology from Samsung Display, which should keep the screen pristine over years of use.

Odyssey OLED G6 (G60SF)

For those gamers who prioritize speed over sheer resolution, the Odyssey OLED G6 (G60SF) steps up with a QHD resolution but an unprecedented 500Hz refresh rate. This monitor aims to eliminate any lag or motion blur, offering what Samsung describes as “ultra-smooth gameplay during critical moments.” It’s a clear nod to esports players and anyone who demands the lowest latency possible from their tech.

Odyssey 3D (G90XF)

Samsung’s Odyssey 3D monitor (G90XF), originally teased at last year’s CES, has now made it to the production line. This 27-inch 4K screen introduces a glasses-free 3D experience through a lenticular lens on the front panel. It uses eye-tracking via a built-in stereo camera to adjust the image dynamically, enhancing depth perception. Although the 37-inch version was dropped, the focus on a compact yet immersive 3D experience is intriguing. With a 1ms response time and 165Hz refresh rate, it’s more than just a novelty; it’s a functional piece of tech for both entertainment and potentially professional applications.

Smart Monitor M9 (M90SF)

Moving away from the gaming focus, Samsung is bringing OLED to its Smart Monitor series with the M9 (M90SF). The shift to OLED is not just about better blacks and colors; Samsung has embedded AI capabilities like the AI Picture Optimizer, which smartly adjusts display settings based on the content type. This could mean better visuals for everything from spreadsheets to streaming movies.

AI Upscaling Pro promises to enhance lower-resolution content to make it look better on this 4K screen, and with a 165Hz refresh rate, even productivity tasks feel smoother. The design has also gone ultra-slim, which should appeal to those looking to maximize their desk real estate.

ViewFinity S8 (S80UD)

Lastly, the ViewFinity S8 (S80UD) is tailored for those with a keen eye for detail in their work. This 37-inch monitor isn’t OLED but offers a solid 4K display with 350 nits of brightness, which is ample for office use. It includes practical features like a KVM switch for toggling between devices and 90W USB-C passthrough charging, making it a versatile choice for the modern workspace.

What’s next?

While Samsung has shared the specs and features, the pricing and exact release dates are yet to be announced. This leaves potential buyers in anticipation, but given Samsung’s track record, these monitors are expected to make waves once they hit the market.
