Disappointing news for fans of the Samsung Galaxy S series. Leaks suggest the upcoming S25 will retain the same 4,000mAh battery capacity as its predecessor, the S24. This news comes as a bit of a letdown, considering the inconsistent battery sizes in recent S series releases.
The S20 and S21 boasted a decent 4,000mAh battery, but Samsung opted for a smaller 3,700mAh unit in the S22. The S23 saw a slight bump to 3,900mAh, finally reaching the 4,000mAh mark again with the S24. Now, it appears Samsung is sticking with this capacity for the S25.
While the vanilla S25 is the most compact model in the lineup, the lack of battery improvement is concerning. Competitors, particularly Chinese manufacturers, have been steadily increasing battery capacities in their flagship phones, even if just slightly. This stagnation on Samsung’s part could put the S25 at a disadvantage when it launches, expectedly in January 2025.
This news raises questions about Samsung’s battery strategy for the S series. Consumers have expressed frustration with the fluctuating battery sizes, and the lack of an upgrade in the S25 feels like a missed opportunity. With the increasing demands of users and the ever-growing power of smartphone processors, a larger battery would be a welcome improvement.
Perhaps Samsung is focusing on other areas for the S25, like camera upgrades or a slimmer design. However, in a market where battery life is a major selling point, this decision to keep the battery at 4,000mAh could backfire. We’ll have to wait for the official announcement of the S25 to see Samsung’s reasoning behind this choice. Until then, fans hoping for a significant battery upgrade in the S25 might be left disappointed.
