The RedMagic 8 Pro, the latest flagship gaming smartphone from RedMagic, has been launched as the first punch-hole-free Snapdragon 8 Gen 2-powered flagship Android smartphone on the global market. Touted as a “futuristic masterpiece” by the company, the 8 Pro boasts an evolved design that combines a sleek, matte colorway with transparent-chic accents on the rear panel.

One of the standout features of the 8 Pro is its triple rear camera setup, which is milled out and located in the mid-line. The main sensor is the ISOCELL GN5 from Samsung, which promises to offer improved camera performance compared to previous RedMagic models. However, it should be noted that the company’s priority has traditionally been on performance rather than camera specs.

The 8 Pro is also equipped with RedMagic’s latest “multi-dimensional” ICE 11.0 cooling system, which helps to keep the phone’s internals, including the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip, UFS 4.0 flash storage, and LPDDR5X RAM, running at optimal temperatures. This, in combination with the 6.8-inch 120Hz FHD+ AMOLED display, 520Hz shoulder buttons, and “amplified” speaker technology, makes for an immersive gaming experience.

The phone also boasts a 6,000mAh battery, which is said to be able to stay on for up to 47 hours in certain conditions. However, it should be noted that RedMagic’s 80W and 165W charging technology remains exclusive to the Chinese market for now. Each purchase of the 8 Pro comes with a free 65W GaN charger.

The RedMagic 8 Pro starts at a price point of $649/€649 for the base model with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. However, the company’s online store is currently offering sign-ups for potential “early-bird” discounts starting from January 28, 2022.
