Proton Drive, the end-to-end encrypted cloud storage app, has unveiled a game-changing update for its Android version. Now, users can seamlessly back up and manage their photos, marking a pivotal step in Proton Drive’s evolution as a robust alternative to mainstream cloud storage giants such as Google Drive and Microsoft OneDrive.

What sets Proton Drive apart is its commitment to end-to-end encryption. Unlike its counterparts, such as Google Drive and OneDrive, Proton Drive ensures that files stored within its platform remain inaccessible to third parties, including the platform itself. This translates to a heightened level of privacy, assuring users that their uploaded content is shielded from prying eyes.

While Proton Drive already accommodates the storage of photos and various files from mobile devices, the recent update aims to streamline the process. Previously, users had to manually upload new photos, a process that is now automated, making it notably more convenient. The addition of a dedicated “Photos” tab further enhances user experience by organizing pictures based on the month they were taken, facilitating seamless navigation through one’s photo collection.

The new photo backup feature is available for Proton Drive’s Android users starting today. iOS users need not fret, as the company has promised a subsequent release for their platform soon. This cross-platform approach aligns with Proton Drive’s overarching strategy of providing users with a consistent and secure experience across various devices.

Proton Drive offers a free plan with a storage capacity of up to 1GB, making it an enticing option for those seeking a privacy-focused storage solution. For users with more substantial storage needs, the platform offers a 200GB plan priced at $4.99 per month (just $3.99/mo. or $3.49/mo. for 12 and 24-month plans) and a 500GB plan for $12.99 per month (just $9.99/mo. or $7.99/mo. for 12 and 24-month plans).

Proton Drive initially launched on Windows this year and has since expanded its reach, gradually incorporating support for macOS, Android, and iOS. This multi-platform approach ensures that users can access their files seamlessly across all their devices, underscoring Proton Drive’s commitment to providing a versatile and secure cloud storage solution.
