Perplexity just made its AI agent platform a lot more accessible — and a lot more mobile-friendly.
The company announced on March 13 that Perplexity Computer is now available on iOS, letting users start, monitor, and manage AI-driven tasks directly from their iPhone. The update brings cross-device synchronization to the mix, so you can kick off a task on your desktop and pick it up on your phone without missing a beat. Android support is coming soon.
To understand why this matters, a quick rewind: Perplexity originally launched Computer in late February as a cloud-based AI agent designed to act as a “general-purpose digital worker”. Rather than just answering questions, it takes high-level goals, breaks them into subtasks, and executes them asynchronously in the background — handling everything from research and email drafting to data scraping and workflow coordination. It connects with tools like Gmail, Slack, GitHub, and Notion, making it genuinely useful for real work.
Then, just this week at its inaugural developer conference, Perplexity doubled down by also unveiling Personal Computer — a companion product that runs locally on a dedicated Mac (like a Mac mini) rather than the cloud. That one is pitched as more secure than cloud-based alternatives, with a full audit trail and a kill switch to stop it if things go sideways. Both products now fall under Perplexity’s broader “Everything is Computer” vision.
Bringing Computer to mobile is a significant signal. Your phone is no longer just the device where you check on things — it’s becoming the remote control for your AI agent stack. The ability to delegate a multi-hour task, step away, and get a nudge when it’s done — from your pocket — is exactly the kind of frictionless workflow people have been waiting for.
The iOS rollout is live now inside the Perplexity app, and Android is on the way.
