Schools and nonprofits can now leverage the power of ChatGPT, a powerful large language model from OpenAI, thanks to two new initiatives. This move broadens access to advanced AI tools, potentially fostering innovation and progress across various sectors.

In a recent announcement, OpenAI unveiled a special version of ChatGPT designed specifically for educational institutions. Dubbed “ChatGPT Edu,” this version is built upon OpenAI’s faster GPT-4o model, known for its improved ability to handle different media formats like text, images, and sound.

This presents exciting possibilities for universities. Imagine ChatGPT Edu reviewing student resumes, streamlining the application process, or even assisting professors with grading. OpenAI emphasizes that this educational version prioritizes security, utilizing data that remains separate from the data used to train core OpenAI models. Furthermore, universities can access ChatGPT Edu at a competitive price.

OpenAI’s commitment to accessibility extends beyond academia. The “OpenAI for Nonprofits” program offers significant discounts on ChatGPT Team, bringing the cost down to just $20 per user per month. Nonprofit organizations can apply for this program directly through the OpenAI website.

Larger nonprofits requiring more features and enhanced security can reach out to OpenAI to explore obtaining ChatGPT Enterprise at a 50% discount. This move signifies OpenAI’s recognition of the valuable role nonprofits play and their potential to benefit from advanced AI tools.
