Due to wireless bandwidth limitations, wireless earbuds have always had to make compromises on sound quality, which results in compression and distortions that degrade the details in your favorite music.

The NuraTrue Pro, which replaces the NuraTrue from a year ago, is the first product to guarantee streaming CD-quality sound to a pair of fully wireless earbuds.

Using Bluetooth (they actually use the latest Bluetooth 5.3 technology), Qualcomm‘s aptX Lossless technology claims to transmit audio at a bitrate of 16-bit, 44.1kHz. That has never happened via wireless before. There is a huge need for wireless headphones that support lossless because more streaming services, such as Amazon Music, Apple Music, Tidal, and Spotify, now offer lossless music.

To replicate the details of lossless audio, these streaming options have required top-tier hardware and a cable connection. With the NuraTrue Pro, you can listen to lossless music wherever you go without sacrificing sound quality.

Although aptX Lossless does include some compression, Qualcomm claims that there will be “no loss of the audio file” and that the audio files will be “mathematically bit-for-bit exact.”

Additionally, the NuraTrue Pro is compatible with older versions of Qualcomm aptX Adaptive/Classic, supporting 24-bit/96kHz lossy audio at 880Kbps (about 80% lossless).

The ASUS ROG Phone 6 is the first phone to be released with support for Qualcomm aptX Lossless, with a handful more set to be released in the next few months. Most high-end Android phones released early next year will also offer support.

Everybody’s normal hearing varies significantly from person to person, and these differences have a big impact on how you listen. Details you miss out on at frequencies you are less sensitive to limit your ability to accurately understand soundstage and the stereo image. On the other hand, frequencies to which you are more sensitive control the stereo presentation’s overall balance.

The NuraTrue Pro uses ultrasensitive microphones in the earbuds to measure otoacoustic emissions from your cochlea to automatically measure your hearing. These measurements are used to produce an EQ that is specifically adjusted to you, guaranteeing that you hear precisely balanced music as intended by the artist.

Nura explain:

Additionally, the companion app for NuraTrue Pro offers an EQ (equalizer) called “Nura ProEQ” that allows manual fine-tuning of your hearing profile.

The NuraTrue Pro is compatible with the latest Bluetooth 5.3 technologies to provide users with a wireless experience. Additionally, they included dynamic earbud switching and support for multipoint connectivity, both of which are compatible with all Bluetooth devices.

The NuraTrue Pro can be connected to multiple source devices at once thanks to multipoint connectivity, which enables seamless switching to the active audio source. While watching Netflix on your laptop, you can instantly answer a call on your phone.

You can switch between using either earbud single-sided or using them both simultaneously thanks to dynamic earbud switching.

Each earbud was equipped with four microphones by the start-up, including a bone conduction microphone that takes up low-frequency voice content without adding extra bass. Additionally, they enhanced the earbud’s microprocessor’s background noise reduction algorithms to provide crisp, natural-sounding voice calls in noisy environments.

Additionally, Qualcomm aptX Voice, which doubles the 16kHz sampling rate for standard Bluetooth voice call quality, is available on the NuraTrue Pro for super-wideband (32kHz) voice calls.

The NuraTrue Pro also offers active noise-cancellation, spatial audio by Dirac Virtuo and multipoint, so you can connect them wirelessly to two devices at once. A total of 32 hours of listening time can be gained from the very healthy eight hours of battery life provided by the earbuds themselves or the 24 hours provided by the charging case.

NuraTrue Pro also supports wireless charging via Qi-certified charging devices.

To enjoy high-quality Bluetooth audio with any gaming console of your choice (compatible with PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch), Nura also offers a USB-C Bluetooth 5.3 Audio Transmitter (sold separately, a $29 add-on). You can also upgrade your Bluetooth experience on PC and Mac for a better connection and better voice calls.

This transmitter supports the latest Qualcomm aptX Adaptive technologies, which dynamically adjust performance based on the environment, eliminating connectivity issues. Also included is an analog microphone to enable voice chat during multiplayer games and a USB C-to-A converter to enable use across a wider range of devices.

Nura’s Bluetooth 5.3 Audio Transmitter is compatible with any Bluetooth headphones or speakers and will automatically enable the highest quality codec supported by the connected device.

NuraTrue Pro price & availability

Nura currently running a campaign for NuraTrue Pro on the Kickstarter platform and will ship this fall. At the Kickstarter campaign, Nura raised over $1.63 million of a $20,000 goal at the time of this article being published.
