NordVPN Teams, a cloud-based business security solution, has changed its name to NordLayer. By adding an extra security layer, NordLayer will help businesses stay safe from security threats. In a press release, the company claims to have “outgrown the name.” NordLayer is a Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) framework that provides organizations with data security and advanced remote work solutions.

The existing app (I mean the NordVPN Teams app) will be supported for up to 1 year, according to the company. The company does, however, include prompts to replace the current application (NordVPN Teams) with the new “NordLayer.”

The company has also updated its document and Terms of Service in preparation for the new NordLayer, which will be in effect on September 21, 2021. However, the company stated in the released notes that there are no changes to the features or pricing structures.

“The name change is aligned with our long-term development strategy in building a product that follows the SASE framework, is secure, simple to get started with, and effortlessly scalable,” said Donatas Tamelis, Managing Director at NordLayer.

Ransomware is becoming more popular day by day, with attacks against businesses becoming more common. VPNs, on the other hand, mask your IP addresses and allowing remote access is beneficial in general. However, when it comes to business needs involving remote work, they are still only temporary solutions.

NordLayer‘s new name aims to provide a more comprehensive and customizable solution for clients with specific security needs who are looking for tools to help them work and grow more quickly.

Currently, NordLayer offers 256-bit traffic encryption, site-to-site tunneling, network access control based on Zero Trust principles, two-factor (2FA) and biometric authentication, a virtual LAN between devices and servers, dedicated servers functionality, custom private gateway creation, Single Sign-On (SSO) with Azure AD, Okta, and Google Workplace (formerly GSuite), rooted device detection, and a virtual LAN between devices and servers.
