Accessories manufacturer Nomad has unveiled its first device to support the new Qi2 standard for faster wireless charging. The Nomad Stand Qi2 Magnetic Wireless Charger aims to charge compatible devices faster and more efficiently using new magnetically aligned charging technology.
Priced at $100, the stand features an elegant metal and glass design reminiscent of other Nomad products. It will be available in stylish black and white color options. Befitting its premium price point, Nomad says the stand delivers robust build quality and utilizes high-end materials like aluminum and glass.

In terms of functionality, the key highlight is support for Qi2 charging speeds up to 15W. This enables noticeably faster charging compared to traditional 5-7.5W Qi pads. The integrated magnets also precisely align Qi2 phones like the iPhone 14 series for optimal power transfer.
While Apple kickstarted the magnetic wireless charging trend with MagSafe, Qi2 aims to create an open industry standard using similar technology. This should improve compatibility across phone brands compared to MagSafe.
Nomad says the stand will ship in the coming weeks. It includes a 2-meter USB-C to USB-C cable in the box. Users will need to supply their own 20W+ USB-C charger to hit the fastest charging speeds.
The Nomad Stand Qi2 enters a market filled with a growing range of Qi2 accessories. Competing options from brands like Belkin, Anker, and Mophie offer similar charging speeds and alignment features. However, Nomad hopes its focus on premium materials helps it stand out from the crowd.
With Apple expanding Qi2 support across its iPhone lineup and more Android phones expected to adopt the standard, compatible chargers should continue gaining popularity in 2023. CES 2023 in early January is also likely to see several brands unveil the latest Qi2 products. Nomad’s new release provides an early showcase of what consumers can expect.
