MWC Barcelona (formerly Mobile World Congress, but still widely known as MWC) is a GSMA-organized annual trade event focusing on the mobile communications industry. The event takes place in the Fira de Barcelona Gran Via in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain, usually in February or early March. Device manufacturers, network equipment providers, wireless carrier representatives, and the press are among those who attend. It attracts roughly 100,000 people each year, and mobile phone makers frequently use the event to announce new products. The MWC name has been expanded to two other international exhibitions in Shanghai, China (MWC Shanghai) and Las Vegas, United States (MWC Las Vegas, originally MWC Los Angeles), but the Barcelona event remains the most well-known.
