Barcelona is bracing for the return of the world’s largest exhibition for the mobile industry as the Mobile World Congress 2024 (MWC 2024) kicks off on February 26th (through 29th). This year’s event promises to give us a glimpse into the future of connectivity.
The centerpiece of MWC has always been the latest smartphone launches. Android heavyweights like Samsung, Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo are expected to unveil their newest flagship devices. We anticipate camera and battery improvements to be major talking points. The possibility of foldable and rollable displays being more mainstream is also exciting.
Beyond handsets, we expect wearables to take center stage. Rumors are swirling about Samsung revealing more details about their intriguing Galaxy Ring smart device. Startups are likely to show off fitness trackers, smartwatches and even AR/VR glasses.
The IoT revolution will continue at MWC 2024. From smart home gadgets to health trackers, companies will showcase how connectivity is changing the fabric of our daily lives. Autonomous vehicles will also be displayed as 5G networks promise to usher in the era of self-driving cars.
Speaking of 5G, MWC will predictably tout the lightning-fast speeds and low latency. But 6G research will also feature prominently this year. The industry is already gearing up for more advanced connectivity by the end of the decade.
Of course, no MWC would be complete without buzzwords like artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing and big data. These will likely all be tied into the overarching theme of how intelligent connectivity will transform business and society.
While the COVID-19 pandemic prevented the event from happening in 2020 and 2021, last year’s return to normalcy was a relief. The expected 100,000 attendees will be eager to network and envision what’s next.
After going virtual during the pandemic, the power of gathering in person will be felt stronger than ever at MWC 2024. The future of mobility and connectivity will surely dazzle in Barcelona.
