MrBeast surpassed PewDiePie’s subscriber count by several thousand subscribers on November 16, 2022, at the time of writing, with a total of 112,116,293 on his main channel. As a result of this success, MrBeast is the most subscribed independent content creator on the Google-owned platform.

According to Dexerto, “Over the last few years, Jimmy ‘MrBeast’ Donaldson has become one of the fastest-rising YouTubers on the Google-owned platform, having blown through his goal of 100 million subs back in July. Now, he has secured his spot as the site’s most subscribed content creator, overtaking long-time Swedish creator PewDiePie.”

Donaldson became the second person behind PewDiePie to ever reach 100M on YouTube back in July 2022 and garnered a response from the creator just a few short weeks later.

Despite the fact that PewDiePie has technically retired from YouTube, he was excited for MrBeast to overtake him as the platform’s king, inspiring him to keep pushing toward this day.

“Come on, I’ve been retired for like 2 years now. I can’t wait for it to be over […] that’s alright he definitely deserves it. I hope he does it,” the Swede said.

According to Forbes, the 24-year-old will earn $54 million in 2021 and $5 million per month, making him YouTube’s highest-paid video producer.

MrBeast has been active on YouTube since 2012, but it wasn’t until 2018 that he rose to prominence due to his thousands-of-dollar giveaways to unknown Twitch broadcasters and YouTubers.
