Windows XP occupied a uniquely ubiquitous place in tech history — after a 13-year run that included 5 years as Microsoft‘s latest operating system, its iconic default “Bliss” wallpaper remains globally recognizable even 2 decades later. Paying homage, Microsoft has unveiled an ugly Bliss-themed holiday sweater for 2023.
True to the ugly Christmas sweater tradition, the blizzard blue hem and cuffs evoke XP’s signature taskbar. A hovering mouse cursor makes the background’s heritage unmistakable even to non-techies. Available in sizes from S-3XL for $70, Microsoft promises delivery from December 1-5.
The sweater continues Microsoft’s line of impishly nostalgic designs like last year’s Minesweeper. Proceeds will aid The Nature Conservancy‘s climate and biodiversity initiatives.
For those eager to party like it’s 2001, Microsoft is also offering new high-res remixes of classic XP wallpapers to adorn your thoroughly modern devices. But millennials needn’t relinquish their ironic 90s aesthetics just yet. The timeless Bliss vista endures in beautiful 4K.
