LG has officially taken the wraps off the LG xboom Blast, a high-power portable Bluetooth party speaker built specifically to take heavy bass and festival energy into the great outdoors. The launch marks a direct push into the fiercely competitive outdoor audio market, targeting everything from weekend beach getaways and poolside hangouts to backyard cookouts.

When you look at the portable speaker market today, manufacturers often struggle to strike a balance between raw acoustic power and true go-anywhere durability. LG wants to eliminate that compromise by packing a massive 220-watt audio punch into a form factor built like a piece of outdoor expedition gear.

The design takes direct inspiration from classic weekend duffel bags, a clever styling choice that earned it a 2026 Red Dot Design Award. Instead of relying on a flimsy plastic handle, LG engineered a versatile two-way carrying system that combines a rigid top handle with a flexible rope strap. That rope setup lets you toss the speaker over your shoulder or carry it vertically, making it considerably easier to haul across sand dunes, gravel paths, or crowded campsites. Wrapped in a rugged fabric shell with protective side bumpers, the chassis is certified with an IP68 dust-and-waterproof rating and has cleared seven rigorous military-grade durability tests.

Underneath the ruggedized exterior sits a serious acoustic engine. LG collaborated with music icon will.i.am to dial in its custom xboom Signature Sound profile. The hardware pairing includes two 5.25-inch neodymium woofers alongside dual 20-millimeter tweeters crafted by the respected Danish audio house Peerless. Together, they deliver full-range dynamics with tight, punchy low ends and clear treble, pushing up to 220 watts when plugged into an outlet and maintaining a formidable 210 watts while running purely on battery power.

To manage the chaotic acoustic reflections that come with open-air listening, the speaker incorporates Space Calibration Pro and AI Sound processing. These onboard algorithms read the environment in real time and automatically tweak equalization curves without forcing listeners to fiddle with manual sliders on an app. A Sound Field Enhance mode widens the soundstage so music doesn’t feel lost in wide-open fields, while customizable Dual Ring AI lighting pulses in sync with musical rhythms to set the visual vibe as night falls.

Endurance is another critical talking point for anyone planning an all-day event far from a power outlet. The xboom Blast packs a removable 99-watt-hour battery pack paired with Play Time Enhance power management, offering up to 36 hours of continuous playtime on a single charge. The replaceable nature of the battery pack is especially welcome, ensuring users can swap cells down the road or during multi-day off-grid excursions.

Connectivity is equally future-proofed, featuring modern Bluetooth streaming, high-resolution wired listening via USB-C, and Auracast broadcast support to daisy-chain multiple compatible speakers across larger festival spaces.
