Samsung Display, the leading manufacturer of smartphone displays, is gearing up to unveil its latest innovation: the M14 OLED display. This cutting-edge technology is set to debut on Apple‘s upcoming iPhone 16 Pro models and Google‘s Pixel 9 series, promising significant improvements in both brightness and lifespan.
According to ETNews report, Samsung Display will be supplying these M14 OLED panels to both tech giants. The M-series signifies Samsung’s top-of-the-line OLED panels, featuring the most advanced materials specifically designed for flagship smartphones.
This new display technology boasts a breakthrough material composition that delivers the best brightness and lifespan ever seen in OLED displays. Reports suggest that several prominent Korean firms, including Deoksan Nelux, Samsung SDI, and LG Chem, have all played a role in the development of M14.
Deoksan Nelux is credited with providing the red and green primary materials, along with an auxiliary material called the hole transport layer (HTL). Samsung SDI is responsible for the green host material, while LG Chem has supplied the hole injection layer (a-EL) and the electron transport layer (ETL).
This news comes as a welcome relief for Apple, which is known for its commitment to top-tier display quality in its iPhones. The fact that Google’s Pixel 9 series will also be equipped with the same M14 technology likely puts Apple at ease, ensuring a level playing field when it comes to display performance.
