HP Chief Commercial Officer Christoph Schell has been appointed to oversee Intel’s Sales, Marketing, and Communications Group, with responsibility for the company’s Intel Partner Alliance program.

Schell will move from HP Inc. to Intel, where he will succeed Michelle Johnston Holthaus, who was named to manage the chipmaker’s PC division, which is its most profitable, in January. Schell will start his new job as executive vice president and chief commercial officer on March 14, according to a statement released by the Intel Corporation.

In a statement, Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger stated, “Christoph has an exceptional track record of driving innovative and disruptive go-to-market strategies around the globe.” “He brings expertise in understanding business segments, verticals and the solutions and services customers want,” Pat added.

In a statement, Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger stated, “Christoph has an exceptional track record of driving innovative and disruptive go-to-market strategies around the globe.” “He does have a strong grasp of business segments, verticals, and the solutions and services that clients desire.”

Gelsinger went on to say that Schell is critical to his turnaround strategy, which he detailed at the Intel Investor Day 2022 conference on Thursday. This strategy calls on Intel to diversify into new sectors, such as the Accelerated Computing Systems and Graphics business unit, which is expected to generate $10 billion in revenue by 2026.

“We are harnessing our core strengths as an advantage to grow in our traditional markets and accelerate our entry into new ones,” he said. “I’m confident Christoph is the right leader to take on this critical role and guide the talented SMG organization to achieve our growing ambitions.”

Christoph Schell joins Intel after 25 years at HP, where he climbed the ranks to become the company’s first-ever chief commercial officer in November 2019. Schell was in response to worldwide functions such as customer and partner success, category management, and customer support. He formerly worked at HP as the president of 3-D printing and digital manufacturing, among other positions.

Schell will join Intel’s executive leadership team as executive vice president and chief commercial officer and will be responsible for the company’s global sales, marketing, and communications groups. According to the Intel Corporation, he will be in process of designing “innovative sales and marketing approaches that broaden Intel’s business opportunities and deepen customer relationships worldwide.” Intel’s global channel chief, John Kalvin, will report to Schell.

“There is no other company as essential to the technology industry as Intel and it’s exciting to see how the company has returned to its roots over the past year – driving innovation deep into the silicon and all the way up the stack,” Schell said in a statement. “I look forward to joining Intel’s world-class leadership team at this pivotal moment in the company‘s history and helping to create even more value and opportunity for customers and partners around the world.”
