Meta’s Instagram is now introducing a new design that focuses on large screens. The new design shifts the home, search, messages, and notifications menus and icons to a side pane (left side). Besides that, the explore/search page displays a full grid that spans the entire panel. Depending on the screen you’re on, the new sidebar expands and collapses.

When you opened a profile in the previous web design, options like Posts, Guides, Reels, and Tagged were hosted on top of the grid. To switch to another tab, you had to scroll to the top of the page from wherever you were. The new design addresses this issue by shifting these options to the side.

This redesign, which is being rolled out slowly to users, will make it easier to use Instagram on large monitors while switching between tabs.

Unfortunately, an Instagram app for iPad will not be available anytime soon. Adam Mosseri stated earlier this year that the iPad app is “not big enough” to be a priority for development.

Instagram announced earlier this month that it will soon allow some creators to make and sell NFTs directly within the app.
