Instagram is Testing New “Hide Likes” Feature for creators

Instagram is Testing New Hide Likes Feature for creators that allows them to select whether or not to hide likes. Instagram users can choose to hide likes on other people’s posts, disable lines on their own posts, or stick with the original experience. Instagram aims to offer users the opportunity to “lessen pressure” when posting to the site by incorporating this degree of versatility.

It’s worth noting that even though a user chooses to hide likes on their account, but likes do not vanish completely. Followers may not be able to see the total number of likes, but they will be able to see who has liked a post in just a few taps. When you’re scrolling through Instagram, this is how the latest “private likes” concept looks:

And if your followers can’t see how many likes you’re getting on updates, you can still see how many. The like count, on the other hand, will not appear beneath your post automatically. To get to the total number of likes, you’ll have to tap “others” under your blog post:

Instagram is testing a new hide likes feature with a small group of creators who will be able to hide or restore likes by changing their app settings. You will no longer be able to see likes on other users’ posts when you swipe through the Instagram Home Feed if you want to hide likes. By clicking the three-dot icon in the top right-hand corner of a published post, users will be able to hide likes on a post-by-post basis.
