Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, the latest blockbuster adventure from Bethesda and MachineGames, is officially making its way to Sony’s PS5 console this spring. After dazzling Xbox and PC players since its debut on December 9th last year, Microsoft’s promise of a PS5 release is finally coming to fruition, and it’s landing sooner than you might think.

Mark your calendars: the game drops on April 17th, but if you’re the impatient type (no judgment here), the premium edition gets you in on the action two days early, starting April 15th. Preorders kicked off today, so if you’re itching to channel your inner archaeologist-adventurer, now’s the time to lock it in. Bethesda’s offering both a standard version and the premium edition for PS5, with the latter giving you that sweet early access plus some extra digital goodies to sweeten the deal. It’s Indiana Jones, people—what’s not to love?

For those who’ve been living under a rock (or maybe just avoiding spoilers), Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has been turning heads since it hit Xbox and PC late last year. Developed by MachineGames—the studio behind the gritty Wolfenstein reboots—this isn’t some half-baked cash grab riding on Harrison Ford’s iconic fedora. Set between the events of Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Last Crusade, the game puts you in Indy’s dusty boots as he globe-trots through a cinematic, action-packed story. Think whip-slinging, Nazi-punching, and puzzle-solving in exotic locales, all wrapped up in a love letter to the classic films.

The PS5 version promises to keep all that goodness intact, with the added bonus of Sony’s hardware flexing its muscles. Expect those lush jungles and ancient ruins to pop with the console’s graphical prowess, and if we’re lucky, maybe even some DualSense haptic feedback to make you feel the crack of Indy’s whip. Bethesda hasn’t spilled all the beans yet on PS5-specific features, but given the game’s pedigree, it’s a safe bet they’re cooking up something special.

Now, let’s zoom out for a sec because this release is more than just another game hitting shelves—it’s part of a bigger shift in the gaming world. Microsoft, once the poster child for console exclusivity, is playing a different game these days. After dipping their toes in the multiplatform waters last year with titles like Hi-Fi Rush, Pentiment, Sea of Thieves, and Grounded all jumping ship to PS5, they’re doubling down in 2025. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is just the tip of the iceberg, with whispers of more Xbox gems—like the upcoming Doom: The Dark Ages—potentially crossing over too. Oh, and don’t sleep on Nintendo’s Switch 2; Microsoft’s eyeing that horizon as well, making it clear they’re less about locking games behind green walls and more about spreading the love (and, let’s be real, the profits).

This pivot’s been a hot topic since Microsoft scooped up Bethesda’s parent company, ZeniMax, back in 2021 for a cool $7.5 billion. At the time, fans wondered if Indy would stay an Xbox exclusive forever. Turns out, no—Phil Spencer, Microsoft’s gaming honcho, confirmed last year that while some Bethesda titles would remain Xbox-only (Starfield, anyone?), others would get a broader stage. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle falls into that latter camp, and PS5 players are reaping the benefits.

For PS5 owners, April’s shaping up to be a treat. Whether you’re a die-hard Indiana Jones fan or just here for a solid action-adventure fix, The Great Circle is almost in your hands. Preorder now, dust off your imaginary fedora, and get ready to swing into action. Who knows—maybe this is the start of even more Xbox treasures landing on Sony’s turf. For now, though, it’s all about Indy, and he’s bringing his A-game to PS5 on April 17th. See you in the tombs!
